We had a great day with Damian Finn on Friday - he came in with his taonga puoro (traditional Maori musical instruments) that he makes and shared knowledge, experience and his passion for this craft with my students. I was particularly happy with the year 10 group who really engaged with him and the topic so well.

Last Friday arvo I had my seniors perform for and with a junior class and we had a ball - was good for the juniors to be entertained and inspired by the seniors and good performance experience for the seniors. It was unplanned but a couple of juniors even got up and performed alongside them. A great way to foster links between juniors and seniors, have fun with music and encourage the music culture in the school! I just finished my TEFL course last week and received the certificate. I found it really interesting and well worth it. It was only a 120 hour online course that cost me about $250, so I'm under no illusions that it makes me an expert but I'm glad I did it and can add it to my CV. The knowledge and content also was useful for my teaching in general. I look forward to my next trip to Asia (Vietnam & Thailand in April) and doing some work as a volunteer teacher there. |
